Our philosophy is to provide a superior
program of competitive swimming that includes appropriate opportunities and a successful experience for all athletes that
have chosen this activity.
Winning starts with today.
The varsity
swimming season will begin Monday, August 16. Our practice schedule is as follows:
Monday through Friday, 3:30-5:30 pm. Saturday morning practices are 8:00-10:00am. We will be consistent
with Dryland and weight training at practices, all swimmers should have running shoes and workout attire available at each
practice.
We will start with
smooth and easy swimming, slowly building into a normal work load. The longer a swimmer waits to start training, the more
intense their first practice will become.
Daily participation is expected (practice and meets) to remain in good standing with the team. Swimmers in good standing
will take priority with meet entries. Sixth grade students may drop one practice per week, if needed, to remain in good academic
standing.
Check the link below to find approximate advancement times for Districts to
Regionals and Regionals to States.
The varsity swimming season will begin Monday, August
16.
An FHSAA Pre participation Physical Evaluation must be completed and returned, before a swimmer can participate in practice and competition.
Our home meets do not function without
the tremendous support of our parents. We have a rich tradition in hosting great meets. And it has everything to do with our
wonderful parents. Once again, we will be looking for parents to help us run meets by timing races. Please work your fair
share to balance the load.
Another opportunity for volunteerism is working
pizza sales. The time frame for a pizza sale is 10:45-12:30 on selected Thursdays. Varsity Swimming will be assigned dates.
Duties include sorting pizza orders, delivering orders to rooms, and selling slices to the high school students. Each event
earns $150-$200 towards our account that can be used to purchase equipment.
Our Wellness Statement: Out of respect for our swimming community, please give athletes with a fever or contagious virus a break from
practice until fully recovered. After an extended illness, it is appropriate to arrange a graduated return to normal training.
We want all Spartan swimmers to travel together
to away contests. Swimmers can travel home with parents. Parents can send a note for their child to travel home with
another (specific) family. In the event that an away meet is closer to a high school swimmer's home, parents can send
a note allowing their child to drive to the meet.
Most written communication with the athlete and parents will take place through email. Please
complete the athlete contact form and return to Coach.
We will compete in the same uniform, an all-navy
team solid suit. If your suit is in good shape, you are good-to-go. Excellent sources to order a solid navy blue suit include
www.swimoutlet.com, and www.thefinals.com. Always do your best to order the chlorine resistant material (Speedo: “endurance”, The Finals:
“endurotec”, TYR: “durafast”.) A latex team cap will be given to each athlete. A silicone cap
can be purchased for $13. See Coach for replacements.
Varsity Letters are earned through participation and performance. Starting with points
earned at Districts, then look at dual meet results, then consider attendance and effort, and finally consider history with
the program when determining letter winners.
The varsity swimming banquet will be scheduled later in the season.
