Welcome to the Spartan Aquatic Club, this page outlines some of the
ways you as a parent can help with the team operations, also included are links providing basic swimming information such
as Meets 101 and a Swimming Glossary as well as a the SPAC Code of Conduct.
SPAC Parents are integral to the success of the SPAC program, without the active
participation of our parent base the team would be unable to perform at the levels it currently does.
One of the most important things
that a parent can do to support the team is to become a USS certified official. By volunteering the team benefits from having
additional certified officials and you benefit by having guaranteed poolside access at all meets you officiate.
If you don’t want to become
a certified official there are other ways to support the team. During the summer River City season the
team must provide volunteers at each meet, home or away. A typical meet will require 20-24 volunteers in
order to proceed. Volunteer shifts generally last about 2 hours and there are 2 shifts at a River City
meet. Volunteer positions include Stroke & Turn Judges, Timers, Runners, Concession Stand workers,
Clerk of the Course and Computer Operations. In addition, assistance with the meet set-up and tear-down
is always appreciated.
Finally,
if you are staying to watch an after-school practice consider opening and operating the Booster Club’s concessions on
occasion. The after-school concession stand has been a significant source of income for the Booster Club
and the more days it is open the more significant it can become.
Booster Club
The Booster Club has become the vehicle for team fundraising by the team parents.
Guided by several team parents the Booster Club seeks to raise funds to support the team’s mission and program.
Primary fundraising activities include operation of the concession stand at home meets, operation of the concession
stand after-school, and the sale of team pictures and DVDs.
Funds raised have been used for diverse causes, including awards for Junior
Olympic qualifiers, a Team Banner, dryland and poolside equipment and various social events, including swim-in movie nights
and the annual team banquet.
To get involved please express your interest to the coaching staff and they will refer you to the appropriate
volunteer coordinator.
